Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers were both fined $75,000 by the NBA for a tweet that was directed at Stephen Curry.
Specifically what occurred was that Morey took a screen shot of a post from Stephen Curry’s Instagram in which he congratulated his brother Seth, who is a guard for the 76ers, on a good game. He then posted the screen shot to his twitter ( which is as of the writing of this article, still up) with the tweet “join ‘em”.
Though he tried to walk it back in a subsequent tweet, it was still seen as a no-no, according to the NBA and their selectively enforced tampering rules ,hence the fines.
I say “selectively enforced” because if the Los Angeles Lakers somehow avoided tampering penalties for the clear and open courting of then-Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, then no team has ever tampered.
